JOB OVERVIEW
Our client seeks a high energy leader who is ready to help shape the future of a large product division based in RTP of a $50 bn+ global organization by confronting new challenges, embracing new experiences and taking on increasing responsibilities.

The Accounting Business Partner role acts as a bridge (business adviser and integrator of the total business view) between the Division, Business Partner Finance and Accounting with main stakeholders: Central Accounting and Global Accounting. The position performs activities that require group and subgroup specific accounting judgment, comprehensive business knowledge and knowledge of other administrative functions and is responsible for decisions on accounting treatment.

More specifically related to this role, the selected incumbent will have responsibilities including the following:
• Provide the Division with the option that suits it best, ensuring full compliance with external and internal laws and regulations at the same time; other than just providing an accounting opinion to the Division, by showing e.g. different options, take an active part in the decision making process;
• Ensure a close link and involvement in relevant topics, e.g. by being a part of the local Division Management team and Business Partner Finance management team;
• Tackle topics from an end-to-end perspective. Involve adjacent functions where needed;
• Actively support M&A activities such as integration and divestment;
• Perform activities according to the predefined activity splits of General Accounting (GA) and Asset Accounting (AA), provide deep business knowledge of respective subgroup(s) to ensure IFRS/HBI and tax compliant accounting treatment considering all business activities;
• Assess accounting topics such as: impairments, major and material contracts (sales, supply, in/out licensing, risk- and profit sharing, tolling agreements, legal cases, acquired goodwill/intangible assets, business models,

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with global accounting to
• Support Head Business Partner to ensure correct and on-time HBII reporting for assigned legal entities.
• The incumbent performs an analysis of major financial positions to ensure quality of reporting and prepares appropriate documentation of judgments applied;
• Maintain close contact to Global Accounting on relevant subgroup specific topics, EBIT effects and/or risks and opportunities to support forecast accuracy;
• Support External audits and coordinate the follow-up of the results (tasks);
• Prepare and align impairment tests of subsidiaries in alignment with controlling and corporate functions, support the local planning process from business perspective and give input/judgment (no execution);
• Act as change agent with respect to process / continuous improvement measures in General Accounting, Internal Accounting, Transactional Accounting;
• Support/steer projects in the area of accounting/division projects;
• Exercise close communication between the Division, Business Partner Finance and Accounting;
• Align different stakeholder views, drive for common solutions and act as escalation body.

JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• BA/BS in a financial area or equivalent with 12+ years’ experience or an MBA/MS with 6-8+ years’ experience with at least one cross-organizational assignment;
• CPA;
• Several years of experience in Accounting or Controlling;
• Extensive knowledge of the external Accounting (IFRS);
• Integrity to ensure full compliance with external and internal laws and regulations 
• Good business acumen, i.e. sound understanding of the business, business models and products;
• IT-knowledge, advanced ERP/BI knowledge;
• Competence to grasp an overview of complex subject matters and to deduce operational activities;
• Open-minded personality with strong communication skills and ability to act as adviser to the Division to combine business related questions with accounting impacts;
• Has the ability to build relationships across all levels of organization;
• Experienced in multidisciplinary project management and corresponding change management;
• Ability to work in an diverse and global environment.
